Indigenous people's water rights are basic to their survival, and I suspect our survival too. I don't know much about North America beyond individual cases I've been told about by Native / First Nations friends, but communities elsewhere are made to compete for their own water with incoming industries and tourists so indigenous water rights are a significant issue, yes.
