Yeah, but heartening to see a mainstream global media player like the BBC covering it as newsworthy. Increasing access to reliable communications, social media, and the publicity value of big money *awards*, has rly raised the visibility of individual local and indigenous activists in ways that decades of campaigning by environmental orgs failed to do. I'm not a fan of celebrity culture but if activists can use the same channels to stay alive then they should go for it ime.
